2010 Goals
I am a big goal setter. And a big goal achiever. My 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Patton, told my Mom that I am “relentless when focused on a goal.” She said it like it was a bad thing and my Mom was like, “Cool.”
So, yes it’s true. I am relentless when I’m focused on a goal. And it’s because I learned early on the power of goals and how to set them the right way.
This year has been a great year. In October of 2008 I closed my mortgage business and in January 2009 I went full time with my internet marketing business that I’ve had as a part time gig since 1999. It was a little scary the first few months but in April we really started rocking.
I had a pretty aggressive 6-figure net revenue goal in 2009 and I’m happy to announce that I hit it. I think that when you’re setting a goal, you really need to set it. It’s not real until you tell someone. I shared my net revenue goal with my family in January and their eyes got really big.
No one said I couldn’t do it but my Mom said, “Honey, it’s a transition year. If you don’t hit that goal don’t be disappointed.”
Well, it was my goal. And transition year or not I was going to be very disappointed if I didn’t hit it. So, I focused on it. Mrs. Patton might say relentlessly. And I achieved it.
But I achieved it at the expense of my well-being. Specifically health and fitness.
I stopped exercising and am now about 50 lbs overweight. And I think that was a contributing factor in the recurring lung infection I had for nearly two months this summer. That experience taught me that if I’m not healthy, nothing else matters.
So, 2010 is going to be different. The focus is going to be a little different. And since I’m a big believer in sharing my goals for accountability, here they are.
My 2010 Goals
* Release 6 new real estate investing courses/products
* Triple my 2009 gross revenue
* Find a church I like
* Buy a Porsche
* Quit biting my nails
* Lose 50 lbs
* Compete in the Iron Girl Triathlon in August
Is it weird that the only one that intimidates me is the last one?
This will (obviously) be my first triathlon. In fact, I’ve never even run a 5K. But I will do it. No doubts.
On December 17th, I’m hosting a very special edition of the Investor Insights Online Training Series. It’s called You Only Live Once – 7 Easy Steps to Creating the Life You Want and the Success You Truly Deserve. I hope you’ll join me for a 90 minute workshop to create and get focused on achieving our goals for 2010.
And I’d really like to know – what are YOUR goals for 2010? Put it out there with a comment below.

December 1, 2009

Wow, Susan, I am impressed- that’s quite a “transition” year!
I am just now getting back into my running routine after about 4 months of doing nothing but work, work, work. No play, no exercise. It was hard to get back in the swing of it, but it’s been over a week now of running every day, and I feel FANTASTIC!
I’m still working on my 2010 goals, so I don’t have anything to post just yet. Reading what you’ve accomplished this year, and the goals you’ve set for yourself next year has really given me inspiration- thanks, and keep up the great work.
You know what they say about all work and no play! Way to get back out there Steph! Come out and do the Iron Girl in August!
I know too goals work better when they are written so here goes – Drink at least 40oz of water daily,Regular cardio exercise and yoga practice – after all if we are not healthy what good is anything else.
2. Establish my career transition with a stable 6 figure income 3. Early in 2010 help my husband leave his JOB and start his career transition, he love photography. 4. Take four vacations 5. FOCUS this must start now.
Great health focus.
I have known Susan since April this year – and that was just when we were discussing some business. I know she had just started a new business and was getting on track at that time. My instincts told me she would do something big in no time. She just had that work ethic. You rock Susan, and as I read this post, I must say you are an inspiration.
About my goals for 2010-
1. I want to be fit and at the same time quadruple my business.
2. Network 10x
3. Exhibit in at least 1 trade show
Good luck for 2010.
Thanks Arjun! Good luck to you too.
I want to also share my goals for 2010 because I know if you write them down where everyone can see, it gives you greater drive to achieve them. I want to make at least $100,000 in my RE business and be able to get the pressure off of my husband to make all the income. Take at least 3 vacations and have my son ready for college, tuition etc. I’m ready to work…
Good for you. Make sure you break that $100K goal down into monthly goals.
